Fraser Island is a world heritage listed island paradise lying about three hours drive north from Brisbane and just offshore from Hervey Bay. The island is the largest sand island in the world and has some spectacular scenery. Here rainforests grow in sand and the sand filters the rain that falls and runs into local streams and lakes. These lakes have beautiful water clarity as it is estimated that the water takes 200 years from falling as rain to filtering through into the lakes and streams.
